Sarav Periasamy discusses Indian Union Budget at the Indian Consulate, NYC
Sarav Periasamy, President and CEO of PERI Software Solutions, Inc., was recently engaged by the Consulate General of India, New York, in an interactive panel discussion on the Indian Union Budget and economic growth.
Periasamy emphasized the importance of education and the necessity to bring about clarity for inviting foreign investment in the education sector in India. Sarav expressed appreciation for the increased allocation of funds by 24% over last year, but he said that financial resources were not the only constraints that need to be addressed. He noted a clarity in regulation would create a favorable climate for growth. Periasamy also cautioned that an increase in Minimum Alternate Tax (MAT) of 0.5% will affect business sentiment. He also said that levying a service tax on other services or bringing in more items under the excise would also be a dampener for business sentiments.
